DA VINCI RISE HIGH IN ACTION - ONE OF THE 10 SELECTED SUPER SCHOOL CONCEPTS
What began as one of the great triumphs of the early 20th century - high school education for all - has become a modern-day design failure: uninspired and under-resourced, many of today’s public high schools are robbing a large number of young Americans of their future. The XQ Institute is a non-profit dedicated to helping communities, especially the more disadvantaged, reimagine education for a new century.
To empower communities, it launched a national high school design competition, with the 10 best school concepts to receive $10 million each in seed funding.
The XQ Institute provided the tools and inspiration whilst American communities responded, generating hundreds of breakthrough high school models over a year-long process. 10 Super Schools were announced in September 2016, from a 'learning barge' teaching climate science to a school for homeless youth that takes the campus to its students - each to serve as beacons for a revived, student-centred public education system.
